With Winning in Mind, by Lanny Bassham is an incredible book on how to improve the mental aspect of anything. I this book, Lanny Bassham tells you, in detail, how you can achieve almost anything through goal setting in a variety of sports ranging from golf to basketball. Along with goal setting there is topics such as; performance analysis, decisiveness, and the balance of power. Also, as you read you learn very helpful elements to mental management such as, “ If you think about something bad happening, the chances of it actually happening goes up. This works the same if you think about something good happening as wellâ€. I believe that this was very helpful and a true statement because in my archery competitions if something was to go wrong, a bad thought pops into my head and everything goes downhill from there. After reading this book, i have noticed that i have became more aware of the mental aspects of any and all sports. Because of this book my mental game has reached the next level to get me to where i want to go and to get ahead of everyone else. This book is great for anyone who is looking to take their game to the next level. I hope that you will get this intriguing book, as it was fun and an easy read for me.
This book was an easy read, being both entertaining and informative. I first heard of the book when a golf commentator mentioned it during a broadcast, saying that he recommended it as a "must read" for any golfer seriously wanting to improve his game. I bought the book for that reason but I now understand that the teachings of Mr Bassham are applicable not only to competitive sporting activities but to the pursuit of improvement in just about any endeavour one can think of. In retrospect, much of the advice given by Mr Bassham seems quite obvious, but this is because it makes so much sense. Dale Carnegie said he wrote always about the obvious because people need to be reminded of the obvious again and again and again. Indeed, in its easy-to-read practicality, "With Winning in Mind" reminds me of "How to Win Friends & Influence People".
