This book is the result of hundreds of hours poring over library books, web forums, old notebooks, old conversations with friends, and my own memory! Some of these riddles and brain teasers you will find if you look into other books and spend time searching through websites. But you will have a hard time finding such a diverse, challenging, and appropriate collection all in one place. When I first started this project I was working with over four hundred riddles that I considered good. Then I focused it down to about 150 puzzles that I thought were very good. Then I kept focusing it down and refining the list of riddles until I landed on 78 brain teasers that I thought were -amazing- and unique. For example, any riddle-lover knows that you will come across countless numbers of riddles that involve liars and truth-tellers and so many of them can all be solved using the exact same logic and reasoning. I tried to take the best of those types of riddles and include the greatest ones from each archetype. How far can a fox run into the woods? Answer: Halfway. Any more and he will be running out of the woods. Yes, that was a spoiler but it is the only one like its kind in the book, relying upon wordplay. The rest are logical quandaries. All are fun and I pull it out whenever I'm with family and we are waiting for something, like restaurant food, movies, etc. We've enjoyed it and I feel like I'm doing something to help the kids prepare for SATs. What's not to like?
I personally didn’t read this book, but I bought it for a friend who is currently in jail and he says they’re great for passing time and were entertaining to read 😂
Not what i was expecting. It's basically all riddles. I thought there would be an assortment of brainteaser type puzzles. Oh, well.
Most of these riddles are math based. I wish there were more strictly logic puzzles or wordplay puzzles.
This is an easy to read and easy to use collection of 78 brainteasers and riddles. To get the answer, all one has to do is click the side of the question. The questions are not complicated. Examples include: Why are manhole covers round? How far can a fox run into a woods? The questions prompt us to think and reach a moment of clarity where we say "of course!" Each question is unique, nor repetitions. No complicated math of a need to have a high-level vocabulary. It is a fun book, great for parties or while sitting alone.
I ENJOYED wracking my brain, sometimes for days, because I was too stubborn to check out the answer. If you like the torture of a good riddle, and something to take your mind off, well, real life, than I recommend this book. It's one you'll pick up and put down for a very long time, least you want your head to explode.
I got my boss for secret Santa and decided on this as a gift. He still talked about it a year later, and hoped I would draw him again because of how thoughtful it was.If you know somebody who is a brainy person, or somebody who likes a challenge, or even somebody who thinks they know everything, a gift like this is top notch.
My boyfriend loved this! He is obsessed with riddle and even makes up his own. My problem is he always tries to get me to solve them or make some up for him... I SUCK at that. So I bought this for him to give him a real riddle challenge and it delivered. He no longer asks me to make riddles up but he still tries to get me to solve them (grr) cant win them all though and I'm glad I bought this book!
