This book drew me in from the first sentence and I could hardly put it down. This should be on the top of the reading list for every person touched by cancer, whether they be the one with cancer or a friend or loved one. It is inspiring, authentic, bold, heartbreaking and joyful. It does not sugar coat what people are going through, but invites us to look at cancer as a messenger that brings us a hand-carved invitation to look deep within ourselves and decide who we truly are and how we truly wish to live. I'm still in the process of accepting the return of my cancer as a gift, but this book opened that door and gave me a powerful look into the life of one woman who has chosen to do just that while dealing with a terminal cancer diagnosis while in the prime of her life, with a loving marriage and a deeply treasured young daughter. Allow yourself to feel the emotions that will undoubtedly surface, and feel your spirit being cleansed. This is an incredibly powerful and healing book. Thank you Sophie Sabbage, for bringing your great gifts to the world. You have done us all a tremendous service.
This book is truly amazing. My favorite quote "...when s*** hits the fan I can either fall on my fate or rise to my destiny". If you have cancer, had cancer, or know someone who has cancer, this is a MUST read. Sophie is brutally honest and very clear about why she wrote this book. She made me laugh, cry, get mad, and beg for another book. I know many of us will be praying and willing Sophie to live longer and keep changing lives. Her courage inspires me. Her ability to put one foot in front of the other, and write this book, shows here strength and determination. God bless Sophie and her sweet little family!

Her words are raw and courageous as she lets into your innermost heart and mind. This book is a roadmap to thriving. Though I have not had cancer, I found The Cancer Whisperer to be magnificently inspiring. The details on diet and detoxing, mind clearing, purpose, releasing victimization and so much more are incredibly valuable.I highly recommend this book for cancer patients, those in relationships with patients, as well as those who haven't been touched by cancer!
I don't have cancer. But I have a life. And it's getting shorter. This book helps me realize my mortality and inspires me to be more alive. Sophie's spirit is fierce and intelligent. Her writing is honest. And she shares the very practical details of how to navigate such treacherous waters. I especially appreciate her writing style - an inter-weaving of personal memoir, practical information and psychological wisdom.The inspiration of her person and her choices, the reality of her stark condition and how she has chosen to live within that, being on the inside of morally difficult choices, has left a brilliant residue that influences my own point of view as I live through my day and have to make choices of my own.It's well worth your time to be influenced by this book. It's impossible to fully understand the what it means to have someone hand you a terminal diagnosis unless you've been there, and thankfully, I never have. But, the truth is we're all under a terminal diagnosis (life), and so much of what Sophie has written here about living our life, not our death, is good for everyone. How much more encouraging it must be for those who are facing an epic threat to their health!Wonderful writing, wonderful imagery, wonderful message! Thank you, Sophie!
I guess the first thing that comes to mind before reading Sabbage’s book is, who the heck wants to read about cancer?!? I am from the school of “a nice drink solves a multitude of problems and let’s all stick our head in the sand.†Yet I realized that this is the EXACT book my mother needed when facing her terminal diagnosis (3 years ago). The Cancer Whisperer would have turned our disempowerment and stress into a productive process to apply to a horrible situation. I love how Sabbage has shifted the “victim-ness†of cancer diagnoses into a plan for advocacy and empowerment, whatever the outcome.
I was reminded how our journey through this life is all about looking for what is Life asking of us. I found Sophie's writing easy to connect with and read this book as if I could hear her telling me her experiences. The passion, the vulnerability, and the wisdom she shares touched my soul. I found many grains of wisdom, reminders of questions that I forget to ask myself and an incredible insight to the steps we have to own our lives even when we are dealing with a disease as powerful as cancer. I would encourage you to read this for yourself, whether or not you are challenged with cancer. It is likely you know someone who is, or someone who could benefit from all Sophie has to say in her own words as she learns from her cancer and show us how to look at various aspects of our own lives. It is a truly powerful read that will have nuggets of learning for every person if you let it.
I find Sophie’s writing to be an amazing blend of straight talk and evoking prose that is written so beautifully that it is like eating a rich meal, course after course. I was so heartened to read of the Compass, just knowing in my heart how many people who are dealing with cancer will likely benefit hugely from this piece alone! This book could have only been written by someone like Sophie who has taken the reins of her disease and has not let go, even in her most despairing times. Sophie is one courageous, eloquent, and inspiring alchemist.Give this book to anyone you know who is dealing with cancer or who has friends or family who have been touched by cancer.
