Informative and easy to read. I must for project managers and those growing in this management arena.

The definition of the word practitioner is "a person actively engaged in an art, discipline, or profession". If you are actively engaged in the art, discipline or profession of project management, then you just found the only book you will need to be successful at it.Lynda has done a wonderful job of distilling down the techniques involved in all the stages of the project management lifecycle and making them available in a concise guide that is easy to understand and implement. Her combination of actual project management experience and extensive teaching experience provides a perfect mix of real world experience as well as an insightful method of teaching these techniques to others.The illustrations add just the right touch to make the techniques come alive for those of us who learn better "visually" as opposed to "textually". As a life-long project management "practitioner", I am sure I will come back to this book again and again as a reference and invaluable project management resource. Highly recommended!

There are several useful tools and techniques in the book (ITTOs) that show Ms. Carter understands the subject and how to be effective.What I like most about the book is the extensive collection of techniques and tools including WHEN and HOW to use them. There are many simple presentation components (tables, flow charts) that a new project manager can use as examples to communicate with stakeholders.

This was a very helpful book and a quick, easy read. The illustrations add a really nice touch. The material was well presented in an interesting and applicable manner. I highly recommend it to anyone who is in a leadership position or pursuing one. This book walks readers through the steps of project management in a clear, concise manner. I especially benefited from the author's real life examples from her prior experiences. Anyone who is responsible for managing a project or a team will benefit from the techniques that are explained in simple terms in this book.

I am not much on reviews but I felt I had to address stephen nelson's of his book "quicken 2015 for DUMMIES" I have been an avid user of Quicken for longer then I remember. Unfortunately I stopped the upgrades. I decided to start using quicken and so my daughter bought me the latest version for my mac. We installed it and transferred my data. I have looked high and low for books that I thought would help me. Looking over the program I soon felt like a dummy so I got out my quicken 2015 for dummies. I soon realized that stephen nelson was the bigger dummy than I was. I was the dummy for buying his book! Why do I speak about the book the way I do? I thought he was going to explain and walk me through the program as if I didn't have a clue about what he was talking about. For starters he uses pictures in the book. I said great. I started looking at the images and the author must wear glasses with coke sized lenses. I don't have a magnifying glass to help me. I wear glasses which don't help either. His images do not look like my images so I think he sold me a new book but the information in the book is from a previous program.I am now looking for a new bookkeeping program so if anyone can recommend one I am sure we would all be grateful. Even Intuit could not help me.

Spoiler Alert - this book is only for Quicken2015 Windows users - I have a Mac and the Quicken version for Mac looks nothing like the features that Mr. Nelson describes in his book. Example, Mac version has no Find/Replace feature described in Nelson's book.

You would still need the primary (red) Quicken book, but this has additional useful information. The book layout is scattered, so you have to hunt for things, but it includes more detailed information on some topics than the Quicken book. Unfortunately, it appears they have stopped publishing this books for newer versions of Quickn.

This is as witty as other Dummies books but there's a problem with the print quality. When the author shows what you should be seeing when using Quicken, the images are so blurry you can barely read the example. Also, be aware that it is voluminous and if all you want to do is record transactions in a checkbook, you might be better off just googling your question.

It didn't add a lot to my knowledge. I feel like quicken home and business is a finicky program and I was hoping this book would make that easier. The book did a great job covering all the basic points. In the end I think my problem is with quicken. Lol.

The book fulfilled my needs as a new user of Quicken very well. It was a far better choice than paying Quicken $40 for added service and then having to wait 20-30 minutes to chat or talk on the phone. The book is clear and well well written. I recommend it to anyone using Quicken.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong butt I'm always having to look something up in my book and I'm so glad it's there to help me the program itself doesn't seem to have enough directions for me anyway

Although this is typically the standard for "dummies" there were some really basic steps that were just jumped over. Good but not great.

Giving this 5 stars for my son. I don’t love this story (she’s not tricking him.. she’s just stalling him). But my son (7) is constantly talking about this story.

I enjoyed this book immensely! I bought it after reading the review that called it an "aberration." I found nothing about it abhorrent. It was beautifully illustrated and the story was fun to read. I liked the introduction of the spanish numbers. This story was a great way to introduce kids to a new language and culture (Grandma makes tortillas, fill pinatas and Senor Calavera's head is decorated like day of the dead skulls.) My young nieces loved it and thought Grandma Beetle was quite clever...

Yuyi Morales is the best. We're not a Spanish speaking household, but my son can't get enough of these books and they are really fun to read. Check out the Nino books as well.

Terrific fun for me and my four-year old. This book is funny, sweet and packed with lush illustrations. I can't wait to see more form Yuyi Morales. Her most recent illustration work, that I know of, is Sherman Alexie's _Thunderboy, Jr._, another fantastic book, but I still hope to see more from Ms. Morales!

Just a Minute is the wonderful first trickster tale of Senor Calavera trying to take the loving Grandma Beetle "away". Yuyi's vibrant, colorful art brings this story, even Senor Calavera the skeleton, to life. Told through a counting story, it is fun and playful and who says you can't have a little skeleton in your children's story!A must read and don't forget to read its sequel, Just In Case!

Although it is not a "Day of the Dead" book, I read it to my kids to talk about the fall holidays. Gorgeous illustrations that harken to Mexican folk art, and a classic trickster story, with a little Spanish and counting skills thrown in make this a multi-cultural gem.

SO it all started when my son got the book "That's not my snowman" for Christmas when he was 6 months. At first I was like, ok, this is a pretty lame book because it says the same thing on each page. That's not my snowman, his scarf is too fuzzy...that's not my snowman his buttons are too bumpy.... and it ends finally with THATS MY SNOWMAN because blah blah blah.It wasn't until my son was about one year old that I realized the genious of this book. Kids love repetition and being able to predict the next page. My son really likes feely books and this book has been looked at a million times. It got to the point that crazy me also bought just about every one of the set of these books such as "Thats not my: truck, tractor, train, airplane, reindeer, tire, bear, puppy, monster, tiger, dinosaur and I am sure I am forgetting one. He likes these books a lot still even though he is two and a half now. We have expanded the book by looking for the little white mouse that appears somewhere on each page. I would recommend this book to every mom. Its been a well loved one in our house

My 2 year old son loves airplanes! We have another book in the collection "That's not my Dragon" which is really cute. When I found this one I had to get it for him. He loves this book! It has different planes of every page that have something shiny or something to feel and the little mouse says that's not my plane until the last page he finds his plane. It's great for this age teaching different sensories and very simple. The mouse is really cute on the pages too and my son loves to find him and point to him. Great book for little airplanes lovers!

I agree with other reviewers. This isn't as good or engaging as other Usborne books. If your kid loves planes they won't care, but you'll notice the difference. I own about a dozen of these books and this one is noticeably lacking.

I purchased this book quite a while back for a three year old with autism who benefits from (sensory) different textures. Two of the textures on different pages are the same (think the wheels and the wings have the same feel) but overall the book is cute. Since then, we've had another child who is now one and he loves it.

We fly our own plane, we travel a LOT... love this book, saving for grandchildren

I purchased this book and 'That's not my train...". If your child is into planes you can't go wrong with this book. My son LOVES trains, but enjoys both book. Each page starts with "That's not my plane, it's ... is too ..." and then uses touch sensory to demonstrate the adjective. Cute little books for toddlers.
