This book made me smile and think. Thank you for opening the door to greater gratitude on my part. You alluded to your attempt to find God. No one can be good enough. God gives us His forgiveness and grace even for grouches. Just receive it. It is that simple.

AJ Jacobs is one of my favorite authors and this book didn’t disappoint. Both poignant and comical at the same time, the book is already making me more aware of the benefits of seemingly small acts of gratitude. This review is one such act, and I hope it leads others to read the book and let others know just how thankful they are for them.

Really enjoyed reading this little gem of a book. Funny, never preachy - the way AJ writes is like a friend telling you a fascinating story. I have a newfound appreciation for my daily cup of joe and for so many of the little things in life that connect us. Just ordered 6 more copies for holiday gifts - it's the perfect digestible size and just all-around makes you feel good. Highly recommend!

I'm grateful for AJ Jacobs. His books have been fascinating, amusing and inspiring to me. With his usual humble and humorous style, AJ's latest book reminds us that the secret to being happy is NOT getting what you want, but rather being grateful for what you have.

I’ve enjoyed all of Jacobs’ books and although this slim volume doesn’t quite approach the breadth and laugh-out-loud moments of his other books, this is still a gem due to its good-natured presentation of a timely message: there are many interconnected dependencies that make our lives better (in this case producing a favorite cup of coffee) and its worth taking a moment to express respect and gratitude for those efforts and people that make it happen. Thanks A.J.!

Pros: Easy to read; interesting enough. Very good section on how to convey bad new to hispanic or Spanish patients.Cons: (1) In the first half of the book, several of the nouns were not accompanied by the definite or indefinite article so I ended up having to look them up in my dictionary. Same problem with the mini-dictionary at the back of book. Yes, some nouns are obviously masculine or feminine but others aren't.(2) Might have been helpful if the authors had included alternative names based on location of patients. For example, bedpan may be "la chata" in some regions of the world but some patients know is as "la bacinilla". Other similar books will give two alternatives (where applicable) and specify "Sp" for Spain and "LAm" for Latin America.(3) There were a few errors that seemed silly and should have been picked up by an editor. For example, page 113 says tongue depressor is "la pisa-lengua" while pg 140 says "la pisalengua". Since when are authentic Spanish nouns hyphenated? And if it were a true word, a combined word ("pisa" and lengua") would be masculine with an "s" at the end; i.e., el pisalenguas (even for singular noun). My gigantic dictionary and internet search states the correct word is "el bajalenguas" or el depresor".

Excellent book for someone in the health care field. My wife is a nurse who has to give patients instructions in Spanish everyday. This book comes in very handy for her. She loves it.

Excellent. For the past 15 years I have bought 2-3 copies per year to give to students on our medical missions to Ecuador or the Dominican Republic. And they have used it, and given me good reviews! This has a very good balance of what's needed on such trips. It's a large-format paperback though, and I wish the newer editions had remained the smaller size of the older ones for traveling purposes.

I probably didn't spend enough time reading this, which is why I gave four stars. I was committed to re-learning Spanish (my high school class has long left my mind). The book was easy to understand and relate to one another. For me, it was difficult for me to apply what I was learning. I ended up deciding to take a class. If you have the discipline then you will enjoy this book!

I'm a first year nursing student, and I bought this book to try and learn Spanish while I'm in school. I absolutely love this book! I've learned so much by just practicing a little at a time every week. It helps if you know some Spanish, but you don't need to. It has great pronunciation help too.

Having dealt with a family member who recently died, I felt that perhaps I could also work with other elderly people in our church in ministering to the sick and dying. As a terminally ill person myself, I found I can empathize with people in their illnesses without involving my own care in the conversation. This book helps to provide a liturgical approach (the Episcopal Church USA) in prayers for the sick and dying, as well as a great Scriptural reference in the back with the Scripture texts written out so you don't have to carry a Bible to read them. The great pocket size in a hardcover book is great to fit into pockets. This is the best book for me for ministry with the sick in our church community.

I bought this book while I was doing a summer of hospice chaplaincy. What I appreciated was that it was small, yet hard cover. This made it very durable and able to take a beating during my busy work this summer.The category with all of the prayers was something that I used the most during this summer. There are many different categories that include many aspects of hospital life (i.e. prayer for a grave diagnosis, prayer for rest). But I think there is a distinct lack of prayers of thanksgiving, for celebrating a good test or the healing of the body.The book is also hard to hold open. Its not easy to find your place in a swift manner. It makes it look slightly cumbersome and silly.However, the content of the book is incredible and important. I would recommend it.

Scriptures, liturgies (new/old), and rubrics all present. You will need to take some time to get acquainted with organization of this book in order to be adept at using it. Scriptures and prayers are broken up based on services they most readily apply to, but you can easily borrow from one liturgy to supplement another (eg. Scripture lessons) if you know where to find it in this book.Format easily fits in inside suit-coat pocket or back pocket. Hardback cover is rugged. Print is smallish. One ribbon marker (invest in some small colored post-it markers).

It is smallish, and requires some finger work to keep the pages open at a spontaneous bedside service. Traditionalist that I am, I would like a more ecumenical offering (yet traditional, I know that's tough) Often times a loose diaspora of a family gathers at the bedside of a love one includes folks from many stripes, bunching Charismatics with Catholics etc…The prayers that require responses are difficult when I am the only one with the book, and the aforementioned folks are participating. My concern is that can take away from their primary focus on the suffering loved one, and shifts the focus to trying to figure out what they should be saying. I ad libbed in some paces, and it worked. TBTG

This edition includes very helpful new prayers. These are appropriate near the end of someone's life, when they are in hospice care, or when a family has had to make difficult medical decisions about continuing care. I have used various versions of this book for more than 30 years in parish ministry and have found these new prayers to renew its usefulness, putting into words what many people are struggling with and feeling when accompanying a loved one through the end of life. Not only have I used them at bedsides but I have sent them in written form to family members who have found them very helpful.

I highly recommend this book for those doing pastoral care, especially in hospitals. The book has a wide variety of prayers for different circumstances. The variety is more than I have seen in similar prayer books.

I use this when,as a Lay Eucharistic minister, I visit the sick at the hospital or at home. Compact and essential.

Fits nicely into my purse or parish nursing kit. Exactly what I needed for a quick and always available resource for my lay ministry work.

In Tuesday, Wiesner tells the humorous story of a group of frogs on a Tuesday evening. They are delighted when their lily pads suddenly begin to fly them around the countryside and nearby town. The frogs are seen by shocked animals and people, and are quite disappointed when their new found magic stops and they return to sitting in the pond. Wiesner uses very few words, and those only to tell the time of day, relying on his art to tell the story.Wiesner's painting style is dreamy and soft, incorporating elements of the Impressionist style: soft lines, gentle colors, faded backgrounds. His anatomy (animal and human, alike) is realistic, as is the architecture and flora. Encompassing both those styles, however, is the surrealism of the story he is telling. The expressions on the various frog faces are especially delightful. The colors he uses clearly denote the time of day: blues and purples at night, with yellows and whites becoming more prominent as day breaks. He uses a variety of layouts: panels inside full page illustrations, double page illustrations that cross the gutter, and single page illustrations.Tuesday is certainly appropriate for the intended age group. A preschooler would be able to "read" this story to herself, thanks to Wiesner's explicit expressions and easy-to-follow sequence of events. It is a joy to "read", regardless of age.

Tuesday is one of my favorite children's books of all time. I've bought several copies for my best friend's kids and even one for myself. David Wiesner has a great way of taking a "What if" situation and turning it into a story that's great for all ages. In the case of Tuesday, that "What if" question is "What if frogs could suddenly fly on lily pads?" and the results are magical.

This is an adorable bookThat tells an interesting fantastical story. No words are used but none are needed leaving some of the story up to your children's imagination. A delightful book for young children.

Beautiful illustrations, imaginative but ends abruptly

This book is one of the best children's books I've ever purchased. It's creative, beautifully done, sparks the imagination in children and adults. It's fun and funny. You can feel the fun and excitement the frogs are experiencing as they fly around on the lily pads. The illustrations are wonderful and even after "reading" it many times, I still find new things to talk about in the pictures. Love, love, love this book and have given it to many nieces, nephews and friends children.

I should be totally honest and let you know that I am a huge David Wiesner fan. Tuesday is another amazing picture book from David Weisner that has vivid, creative, and humorous illustrations that let you and the little ones run wild with your imaginations. The concept is so simple and yet so great - create your own story with some nocturnal frogs on a flying adventure in a suburban neighborhood!I quickly realized that long and wordy books, no matter how awesome, are not my friends when it comes to reading out loud to little ones as they can get tiring reading over and over again.I think this works well for kids 2 and older and is great for using your imagination since there's no written story and you can really create a lot of variations of the story. Little ones will remember the slight nuances in the "story" but will also love to hear slight variations. This book also gives kids a good opportunity to practice their own "storytelling" skills.

This book is so wonderful. My son and I have so much fun with this book. The reason for the story changes every time.

This is a great book! Used is as a first grade teacher. Especially good for learning to read -- few written words and kids can tell the story using their own words. Got it for my young grandnephew.

What a fun, silly picture book! As long as the parent realizes that the story is all in the visuals (no text) and so they (or the child) would have to make up the narration as you go along, I'd say this would be a very enjoyable story-time for any family. In fact, since it is wordless, it's perfect for non-English speakers too. I'm planning to send a copy to Paupa New Guinea, to a hospital children's ward, and the fact that they don't always speak English will not prevent the children from enjoying this fun story.

Heinz should be considered one of the best sports writers in America. This is an excellent sample of his writing on many facets of the sportsworld.

Well-titled. An excellent sportswriter of whom I knew little being from the West. Excellent articles well worth reading!

This is a wonderful and honestly written book. Mr. Heinz was, in the best sense of the term, a hero worshipper who makes us see and admire these people as genuine human beings. One great piece after another, but the very first one is especially unforgettable. I loved this book.

Great collection by this under-appreciated writer. Maybe too many rodeo pieces, but even here the Heinz touch prevails.

When you read W.C. Heinz you are there. From his words you easily visualize the scene and hear the dialogue. He has no peer.

I love everything this author does! Dom and AJ’s story did not disappoint! Despite her years of crushing on him, I think their timing was perfect and made for a beautiful, DRAMA-FREE journey and a refreshing read!

**SPOILER ALERT**This was the most honest and mature relationship I’ve ever read about in all of my years of reading. If more men and women were as open, honest, and accepting as AJ and Dominique - particularly Dominique. Men are often honest with women in letting them know where they stand and what they’re looking to get out of an arrangement - this can go both ways; however, it’s seems more prevalent for women to think they can change the man and MAKE him want more. I really commend Dominique for understanding and accepting the agreement she made with AJ without any extra fanfare or drama. She understood her feelings and took responsibility for her decision and was mature enough to just step away. Wow, we need more of this honesty and maturity in all aspects of our lives; the world would be a much better place.Great job once again, Ms AshleyNicole. This was so worth the wait!

Many had been waiting for this couple’s story, but I was on the fence if I’m totally honest. See a crush for that many years was not something that I understood. Then the book dropped, and I jumped right in. These two steam rolled me into their love! AJ didn’t know know it, but he needed Dom’s love. Dom though she was just scratching an itch, but she was already gone from her teenage years. In the words of Fabulous “I’m a movement by myself, but I’m a force when we’re together “, these two were a force! Loved it✅ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

AshleyNicole has the uncanny ability to write men that teeter on the line of jerk-ish and arrogant in a way that makes them exactly what the women they are destined to be with need. AJ was definitely that type of man and Dom was the woman that needed AJ to be that type of man. Waited so long to read their story, and it was worth the wait.I know I've said this at least fifty-eleven times, but I'll say it again. The growth of this author has been tremendous and she just keeps getting better and better with each release. Looking forward to her next one.

AJ finally got his girl. I have wanted to read AJ and Dom's story since the first time he called her Thing 1 in Play For Your Love. Dominick had an obvious crush on AN but deep down I think the crush was two sided AJ was just in denial. A twenty something year crush that blossomed into a love that she realized she deserved, and he realized life was too short to deny yourself love. I also enjoyed catching up on Sage and Khaden and their love affair.LOVED IT ready for the next story

Let me start off by saying you penned the heck outta this book! The storyline flowed freely and I absolutely loved the build up between Dominique and AJ. It was good catching up with the crew as well. There's nothing like finally getting a taste of something you've craved and from the way things happened she wasn't alone. Glad to see these to finally get it together. Looking forward to reading your next release.

I liked that Dom understood what she was getting into and did not try to convince herself that she could change his mind. Yet, I hated that we never caught a glimpse of the courting phase. Not even a proper date. AJ has an epiphany after a major moment and boom they go together now. Overall, good read and I enjoyed the characters.Side note- The housekeeper element of the book didn't add much value to the story.

The story was so good it made me want to slap someone. The author put her foot in this story. Dom and AJ , that was the deal. I know they could see that because we could. The writing was magnificent. Fun, funny and magical are a few words to describe this story. Also, the story was engaging and kept me up all night... An excellent, read 5Stars!
