Though I have to read this book with a dictionary to decipher the theological terms, I am finding it compelling reading— which is opening my mind to new ideas and concepts about the OT.

It's probably a Master's Degree level book. I love it. I've been studying the Old Testament for more than 25 years, and have learned quite a lot from this. Pretty awesome, in my opinion.

I just stumbled upon this as I was searching for something else. I bought this book a while ago and use it often. I don't have time to give detailed thoughts on it... However, this book is amazing. Brueggemann speaks with so much clarity and sense and authority. He is not dogmatic about conclusions where dogmatism is not warranted, but gives tons of powerful evidence to make strong conclusions that stand on solid ground. This title would make extremely conservative Christians a bit uncomfortable. That is a sad thing as they will miss out on treasures of spiritual and intellectual wealth. Conservative Christians will certainly not wrestle with the data anywhere close to close as sufficient as this author does. And at the end there is nothing to fear about critical scholarship. God is God, and the data is what the data is. We simply fit the data into a Christian worldview and attribute all that has happened into the perview of God's providence and accept that this is what He has done. Breuggemann is by far one of the best at this (along with Childs or Goldingay and others). Allowing warranted critical positions into our confession is a deeply freeing experience, as we no longer need to run from seemingly clear data that points in a different direction than our presupposed traditions. Another benefit of this book is its deep theological and spiritual content in the midst of its intellectually stimulating critical content. This book as an absolutely must read for anyone seriously interested in the splendid book of what Christians call the Old Testament!!!

Brueggeman takes some positions I wasn't expecting, but he is always interesting to read and is a very good writer.Good resource book and easy to follow.

Scholarly yet readable. Very precise. Great resource for seminary or serious student of biblical theology

In terms of story line, Part II picks up where Part I ended, immediately after the Battle of Shrewsbury, where the supporters of Henry IV had crushed a force of rebels. In addition, the two principal characters of Part I return -- Prince Harry, the eldest son of Henry IV and the heir to his crown, and Sir John Falstaff, the boon companion of Prince Harry's frivolous youth. But the characters of Prince Harry and Falstaff are not the same as they were at the end of Part I. Harry has reverted back to being the shallow wastrel that he had been for most of Part I, before the sudden transformation that resulted in his rushing to his father's aid to help put down the rebellion. And Falstaff no longer is charming or noble in his roguery; he now is simply an aging boor. As Part II develops, Prince Harry once again undergoes a sudden transformation of character when his father the King is on his deathbed, such that after he assumes the crown as Henry V he coldly turns on and rejects his youthful mentor in debauchery, the now ignoble, toadying Falstaff.While it arguably is Shakespeare's prerogative to forgo consistency in his characters from one play to the next -- in other words, to have each of his plays stand alone -- I am bothered by these inconstancies in the characters of Prince Harry and Sir John Falstaff. So while I was enthusiastic about "Henry IV, Part I", I react less warmly to HENRY IV, PART II. For the first time in my traversal of Shakespeare's plays, I sense a degree of manipulation.Still, it is a moderately rich play. Four themes stand out. The first is a recurring one in Shakespeare's history plays -- namely, concern about the legitimacy of the monarchic rule and the toll on the psyche of the monarch ("Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown"). Related to that is the theme of betrayal, which is perhaps best exemplified when Prince John promises several rebellious nobles that they will be treated with mercy if they lay down their arms; as soon as they do so he orders their execution. That theme is also reflected in the question of how is one to know, concerning a colleague or friend, "thy face tomorrow" (a question, as reflected in its title, at the center of Javier Marías's marvelous three-volume novel "Your Face Tomorrow"). Indeed, it is a question that Falstaff probably should have asked concerning his pal Prince Harry. Yet a third theme has to do with the pernicious, destabilizing effect of "Rumour", or "false reports", or "smooth comforts false". And last, there is Death, which if not front and center, certainly pervades the atmosphere of HENRY IV, PART II.

Carl was an adjuster for a period of time before he started instructing and being a keynote speaker at claims conferences. Even though I haven't met him, I feel I have met him by reading the book. It is written in a conversational style and therefore more personal. Only someone in the adjusting industry could give the examples he did and how to apply psychology to both yourself, team mates, and clients. He has a couple other books out now and I'm sure they are written just as informative.

I just started in the auto claims adjuster field, and one of my trainers recommended this book. She let me borrow it, and after a week, I decided to purchase my own copy. This is one of those books that you can read from cover to cover, or pick and choose a chapter to refresh yourself on. I would definitely recommend this book to those starting out in the claims field, and as a refresher for the experience claims professional.

This book really can be used for any customer service based business. Carl Van puts everything in perspective. For instance, in order to do your job well, its not enough just to go through the motions. The work ethic most customer service related businesses seem to display are lackadaisical at best. Mr. Van says shun that attitude, give more than you receive and treat your customers with dignity and respect. This may not be a fresh read for some, but for more it was a motivator.

Although I am not in the insurance business, I read this book and immediately connected the traits of an awesome adjuster with my job teaching elementary and middle school children. I took several of the examples from the book to our professional development meetings at my school. The knowledge and ideas presented made a big impact and teachers were able to see the reasons why they felt overworked and always in friction with parents or administration. The students appreciated the change in attitudes and were eager to work harder. Carl Van writes with much humor and I felt as though I was in a living room while we talked around a coffee table for an evening. Great information, some "suppose you did..." samples, laughing at yourself for doing just what he said to avoid, and getting that feeling that you really want to make improvements...made this book invaluable and fun to read! I believe his book is for everyone who deals with other people in some capacity. Everyone could use practice making their "people skills" work for them instead of against them.

I love this cookbook. I am not sure what others mean when they complain about the lack of photos, but I honestly think the book is filled with beautiful tempting photos of finished recipes. This book is a departure from Rachel Ray's usual cookbook, but it is a well thought out and creative work that will (I think) become a kitchen classic. I cant wait to try Grandpa's chicken stew or the many, many other recipes that fill the volume. I'm looking forward to serving lots of delicious Rachel Ray Italian Sunday dinners to my family and friends.

So, right now I am laid up post-surgery. But this has made for great reading material and inspiration to get well soon. I can not wait to get up and cooking so many of these wonderful recipes. Rachael's antidotes about her family were wonderful to read. Way to go John on the drinks department.

I can't say enough great things about Rachel Ray's influence on me, when it comes to making my every day dishes extra special or gourmet - I just love her recipes, and my family does too! I love it anytime I can purchase one of her books! Thanks, Rach!

Some people do not consider Rachael Ray a great chef--or even a chef.Regardless, she is a terrific cook and brings wonderful everyday-able recipes to everyone.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift so I didn't really look at it too closely. However, the recipient really seems to love it, so five stars it is.

I love this book. The only thing I don't like, it weighs about 15 lbs. It's so heavy for me to carry. I'm a little sorry I should have read the fine print. Rachael uses a lot of ingredients I rarely have, so I buy them use what I need and the rest goes to waste.

My Italian son-in-law loves his pasta and his Irish wife uses sauce from a jar. Thought this cookbook would be a good match for them both. It is. Yummo!

Perfect for those who don't know the first thing about the rosary. Lays out every prayer, in the right number, and even gives information on the mysteries so you can meditate on them. I love that it's on my phone so I have no excuse not to use it.

I really like this little book. My one problem with it was the art work. So, I printed out new pictures for each of the mysteries and taped them over the pictures in the book. Now, it is perfect for me. I keep it with my rosary and when I am saying the rosary it helps me stay on track and not drift off into other thoughts.

This is a great little book to have on kindle. Praying the Rosary changed my life... I have received so many graces! This contains pictures and some extra prayers, such as the Litany to Our Lady of Loreto that are very helpful. The additional information about the Rosary is interesting too. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to pray the Rosary "on the go" such as when commuting or waiting or whenever you have your kindle with you. Praying the Rosary is ALWAYS a beneficial thing to do and this little book is very helpful.

As a fairly recent convert, this was a wonderful in depth look at praying the Rosary. It also told of the beautiful history of the Rosary; some of which I was not aware of. I loved all the Scripture references and thoughts for each mystery and will be incorporating them into my own personal prayer time as well as our family Rosary time. The additional prayers and references were a delightful bonus.

Here is the Rosary in all its beauty. The steps for saying the Rosary are laid out perfectly, with each prayer of the Rosary stated the correct number of times, all the way through the stations. There are many prayers listed for each day of the week, and personal prayers as well.This books provides a great deal of information which can be read over and over.I haven't found any spelling errors to break the flow.Everyone should have this take-along book to use no matter where you are.

I must be dense because i still have not mastered the art of praying the rosary. solely my fault though, this book is very informative. I wish i could find one with just the picutre of the rosary and the full prayer by each bead!!! How simple would that be!!!!!! If any one knows of this please!!!!!!!, let me know.
