I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Lyle Blackburn is simply the finest author writing about the Bigfoot phenomenon today. He doesn’t just write books on strange phenomenon, he writes history books.Lyles writing style is such that he doesn’t just tell a story, he sets a scene. When you read one of his books you’re not just given the facts, you’re transported to a time and place as well. He goes to great lengths not just to tell you what occurred but to explain how it felt to be there when it occurred. What the time was like, what the place where the phenomenon happened was like. The reader is brought along with him to experience the events he writes about as if he or she was a traveling companion not just an anonymous reader.And Blackburn doesn’t simply write about events from the safety of his office, he goes out and travels to the very places he’s writing about to experience what the place is like and speak personally, wherever possible, to the witnesses and people who were directly involved in the phenomenon he writes about. Great hands on research from an accomplished author/adventurer/monster hunter Lyle Blackburn. Well written and easily understandable using eyewitness accounts and interviews. Lyle also does his due diligence by hitting the library and doing old school research. His payoff is uncovering info only locally known and not covered by previous articles and books. As with all his books, this is a must read for any cryptid fan.
Lyle Blackburn has written a golden masterpiece with “Momoâ€. His words paint a perfect picture of what went down in the 1970s in the small town of Louisiana, Missouri. The details transport the reader back and make you almost feel like you were there experiencing this phenomenon with the eyewitnesses.Such a great read along with his other books on Boggy Creek.If you are a researcher, enthusiast, or even skeptic on the subject of Bigfoot, you should read this.I give this 5 stars, only because amazon doesn’t give the option for 10!
Excellent book by Lyle Blackburn. Very well researched and eye opening. Having been a curious teenage boy in Illinois during this time it brought back memorys of some of the news we read. Lyle filled in all the info I always wanted to know. Love his writing style and found this book to really fill a need to cover all aspects of the Momo mystery.
He might wear a black hat, but Lyle Blackburn is definitely one of the good guys - and he lends a solid level of credence to genuine research that others in the field of crypto-curiosities need to pay heed to.In "Momo" Lyle takes us back almost 50 years to a town on the banks of the Mississippi that experienced something too compelling to ignore, and an experience worthy of the thorough reexamination afforded it by Blackburn's due diligence. His writing style is intelligent, fluid, likable and doesn't insult the reader. Nor does he make outlandish claims or wax philosophical on what may or may not have happened there in Missouri in the early 70's. This isn't supposition - this is the way research is supposed to look.There's a lot of crap out there when it comes to fringe investigation. This is as far from that as possible - and it's another feather in Blackburn's trademark black chapeau, and further testimony to his place as one of the best researchers and writers this field of wonders has to offer us.Pick it up with confidence. Like in his past books about the Fouke Monster and the Lizard Man of South Carolina, Lyle Blackburn conducts a comprehensive investigation into the mysterious Missouri Monster sightings of the early 1970s. Eyewitness accounts, local folklore - even advertising capitalizing on the monster mania! - and theories ranging from hoaxes to UFOs to Bigfoot all come into play. This book is wonderfully entertaining, objective, and allows the reader to make up their own mind about the Monster. As for me, this book brought back memories of childhood days when the possibility of a strange creature lurking on the outskirts of town was a real possibility. I've read "Momo: the Strange Case of the Missouri Monster" and I must say Lyle knocked it out of the park again. Top shelf work, Lyle must have done an amazing amount of research to find all of the information in this book. Having a long time interest in this mystery I must say I am truly amazed at what happened in this small community so many years ago.
Blackburn, as always, does a great job of digging into the mystery of Momo. He provides a solid historical background and paints a compelling picture of a town and a state in the throes of some real high strangeness. He is the consummate searcher of legends. A great book.
